Default Introduce myself and my car

Hello all,

My name is Andy and I live in Chattanooga TN, I just purchased this 99 996 with the silver package, 75,000 miles and a clutch job and RMS done at 69k by Autohaus in Atlanta. Car is in excellent shape with very few flaws. It came with the original wheels that I have reinstalled. I paid 18k which sounds like an okay deal. I have owned many cars over the years mainly BMW's M coupe,M3, 328is, 540 sport, and most recently my hypermile 91 318is. My last porsche was a 1986 951. I do all my own work and have been members of every forum that has to do with the cars I have owned to learn more.

My first question is does anybody know what kind of wheels are in the photo, they are 19" 10.5 rear with 295's? They may be for sale if anybody is interested.

My second question, is the air pump very loud for 1 minute after startup, should I be able to hear it over the motor?

Is first gear louder than the other gears, sounds more like an air cooled porsche?

Here are some pics.

Hello Andy, welcome!

First off, you've got a great tool collection!

That air pump noise is normal, it's only when the car is cold for emissions purposes.

Not sure about those 19" wheels, but the car looks great -- silver '99 C2s rock!

Welcome Andy, a good looking car. The wheels are very unique. They change from 5 spoke to 10 spoke when taken out of direct sunlight.

Meister,

Then you may like this photo better, told you I do all my own work. Restored 2 miata's and a 91 318is since May. They all made the 996 possible.

Beautiful!
Welcome. You will love your car. I too had a M3 (2002). It's a great car, but it's not a Porsche. I have a '99 996 C2 with 97,000 and she still runs like a top.

I think the TSW's come closest. http://www.tswalloywheels.com/alloy_wheels_nogaro.php

Also looks like HRE 595R wheels at the bottom of this page. They make custom widths so I imagine with and with out other things. http://www.wheelenhancement.com/index.php?t=Wheels

So many different wheels out there a guy gets dizzy.

Nice find on the car.

Cool

Welcome to Rennlist, Andy! And a very hearty welcome to the 996 family.

Is that "other" car in the bottom photo a 1968 Pontiac GTO or LeMans? LOL! Just kidding. Wanted to get that out before someone else asked a silly question.

Beautiful 996!

It's a 1969 Tempest Custom-S. My grandmother bought it brand new and she left it to me. It has 69k miles. Original 350 Engine and Trans never opened, but has a full Hotchkis Tubular suspension, 4 wheel Disc brakes and 15 to 1 Steering Rack. 3:55 rear gear with a Eaton Posi.

Ive already used the forum to learn to clean the throttle body and the Mass air meter, seemed to cure a rough idle.

Got a rattle in the drivers door near the latch, any ideas?

Thanks everybody for the welcome.
