Default hood crest

Can someone tell me why the silver porsche crest looks so much better than the stock gold?

Have you ever heard the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder?" That's like asking why is a blonde prettier than a brunette -- it's all down to personal preference.

Because it's actually platinum.

I've got a silver car and just felt it looked cleaner, like how albino pumpkins look better than orange pumpkins....

I think it is because all of the other trim is silver/chrome (headlights, exhaust...)...there is no gold anywhere.

I was on the fence when replacing mine and when I found out the Porsche never made a silver one, the choice was easy. I do like the silver - my bodyman suggested no hood crest, I almost did that too.... In the end I went with the old version OEM (not the new cheap *** one)

I agree with silver looking better with silver cars... But I do like the flash of gold against black... As soon as I can decide which one I'd rather have for Christmas (the cool-looking 911 key thing or the hood badge) I'll pick the other one up in January...

FWIW, the silver ones (built from OEM crests) are getting more expensive and harder to find.

Where can you pick up a silver crest? I don't have the color crests on my wheels, and my car is black, so I think the silver will look much better.

I picked up my silver crest and center caps from Ralph Booth some time ago. Very impressed with the work. The center caps use a silver hood crest so they are huge!

+1 black/silver. gold looks 80's. silver matches the headlights (washer caps), clear side markers, etc. no brainer for me.

Same here, I also replaced my old-fading gold one to a silver-version... It really change the look of the car from the front especially on midnight-blue metallic or other darker color cars. Now it also matched my GT3 wheel center caps, as well as my steering wheel emblem and gear shifter ****... I love it.

Ain't that the truth.... Rennlist sponsor BumperPlugs.com is up to $279 for them now. I think I paid $135 for mine a few years back....
