Default glass window top for 996 cab

Has anyone bought a replacement glass convertible top from this place and had it installed by a third party?

My Porsche dealer wants $3,900 to do this.

Default Thoughts....

He is within 25 minutes of me. I looked into this upgrade for my '01 also and was told that the headliner typically needs to be replaced as the windows are a different size and thats an extra part and labor. A great drive from Nor Cal so if he would also do the install it might be worth the drive to not have your local installer tell you something was wrong!

What year is your 996? It is my understanding that for 1999-2001 996 cabs, you cannot use the same convertible glass top in 2002+ cars because they won't fold properly (the plastic rear window folds but obviously glass doesn't.)

Another company, GAHH (www.gahh.com) has an aftermarket convertible glass top that uses the smaller rear window from a Boxster to make it work. Looking at the picture on the eBay link, it looks like the glass rear window is full-sized -- is this a photo of a 2002+ car? You might want to doublecheck.

I installed the GHH Top at my local GHH recommended shop. The new mounting design from GHH is pretty slick. Lifetime gaurantee not to leak.

High quality canvas, new head liner, defrost.
But like mentioned before, smaller window. Takes some getting used to.

I would recommend GHH also.

Price was $600 for the installation.
The top is about $2,000.
