how to disconnect shift linkage?

I am in the middle of a tranny drop on my '02 C4S and I am stuck with the shift linkage cables. How do i disconnect hese things!?!? Can anyone help me with this.

Pry them off with a large flat blade screwdriver. They take a fair bit of force to pop off, but press back on with ease.
