Yes, planned winter projects... mostly change fluids - transmission, brake, coolant.
I just replaced the oil filler tube that broke at the Walmart in Utah. REAL fun removing and replacing the 2 bolts that hold it on. Had to remove the alternator, which gave me opportunity to check all the 'belt' items. Might replace water pump just as precaution and one idler has some play. And oh yeah- I need to replace a front wheel bearing. A little noisy. Will do both.
On the fence about upgrading the IMS. The RMS doesn't leak. Original engine. Well maintained car. I chose a higher mileage car because, "if it made it this far, it was one of the better built engines". Plus I know from experience, one of the worst things for cars are for them to sit. This car has the miles pretty well spread out, with the PO driving it 30k in the last 2 years. I will use it as a 70% DD. (in my mind, a 10 year old 30k garage queen is worse that an driven 90k car with good records)
I am considering upgrading the stereo, but probably won't get to it til Spring time.

Yes, I agree the taco is the preferred wing! I think it had an effect on this car (and others I looked at) being up for sale for quite a while. I have a Taco which I'm painting this weekend and installing. We will see.

Nice car, very very good price. When you sell the MK2 wing you can easily find an OEM front bumper or side skirts for the same money. It is hard to tell in pucs if your car already has the areo front bumper

Sweet!! I think you might be right about well used cars. My daily driver MY2000 996 has 95,000+ miles on it and s absolutely the best running, most reliable car I've ever owned. It's dry as a bone, smooth as silk, and feels as powerful as the day I bought it three years and 60,000 miles ago.
I have to say that I really like the look of the 19's on your car and you seem to say it drives well. Maybe I'll consider a set myself.

Price wise- the PO put Vredestein tires on the car about 3k miles before I bought it. I have been really impressed with them and the rears were $178 ea! (on-line) Now even with 7k they still look relatively new. Great grip, no noise, and was even good in the 2" of snow in the Rockies. They were highly rated in Car & Driver tests
(I have some 17"s that I will swap for the winter, just because they are much narrower and I might as well wear them out since they are at 50%) It will be interesting to see the difference in traction and weight of the tire/rims. The 19" rears are 50lb, 17's are 43lb.

Welcome!
Reminds me of my buying experience. I bought a '99 in '03, flew into Houston, looked over the car, handed over a check and had a wonderful drive home to Salt Lake City. Hit 155 mph and would have gone faster had it not been for my protesting wife. Still have both, the car behaves beautifully, the wife still bitches;-)
