1999 - 996 " What's fair market value" ?
For the used car brain trust...
Can I get some opinions on what fair market value is for a:
Silver 996 Cab, 12K miles, one owner....very clean

+1 Regardless of how dealers like to claim (obviously they do this to try to preserve their pricing) Edmunds is "low", plain fact is, they take registration information (which includes price paid per locale) into consideration in their numbers. Of course, when dealers price your trade-in, the Edmunds numbers all-of-a-sudden, either become "too high" or "just right"...
Having said that, there will be obvious "outliers" in any statistic.

"Fair" is what you are willing to pay in relation to what the seller is willing to take. If recent statistics are any indication, this car would probably go for around $12-15K at auction, and around $20-25K retail. Of course, it could go for more or less depending on vehicle specific info.

Does the car you're looking at happen to reside in Las Vegas?
there is a dealer here with a silver 99 C2 cab with 12K miles on it.
They are asking 39K, waaaay to much.
Let me know and I can look at it for you and take photos as well if it is the same car.

At the end of the day it will come down to what you are happy with, How much you are willing to pay for transport, and a GOOD PPI. At $15K a car in LA still needs to get shipped across the country and/or you board a jet to drive it home. Why not give Eurpoean Locators a call (Dave Maynard) he is located just outside of Boston and can help you locate a nice example our direct you toward someone whom might.

I've been looking at used Boxster/Caymans recently and the strategy of dealers seems to be to ask for $7-10K over market value as a starting point.
Thye must feel that they amximaize the final selling price that way.

Gerry keep in mind that you are dealing with Langan and with sales slipping after they lost a "top notch" salesman... how else will they cover the gap.
