Default CV boot clamps

I've got all the boots, clamps and hardware for my CV boot repair project but i'm a little confused by one set of the clamps. This pair looks almost like it's just a zip tie rather than the stardard "eared" or "earless" cv boot clamps. Does anyone know how you tighten these? Do you just pull one end through the hole and bend it back over?

My guess is: the dimples are to give it some "bite" into the rubber.

So, perhaps it goes dimple side down, thread the small part through the slot, like a needle, pull tight and then fold the small end backwards - not very elegant, but I suppose it does the job.

That's what I was thinking as well. It's odd that they chose to use three different types of clamps on four boots...Hopefully it's tight enough.
