Any retro 996's around?
Morning/Afternoon/Evening all, I'm currently a 951 owner and poster from across the pond in the UK, but I'm planning a change in the not-so-distant future. Early 996 models are pretty good value over here, and I really like the simplicity of design on the early cars, without all the spoilers and wings. I'm also a fan of the VeeDub tuning arena, and would like to do a VeeDub-style 996 - I'm thinking low suspension, 18in Fuchs and some smoothed bodywork to start with. I just wondered if any of you guys know of anything similar I could use for inspiration? Thanks

Now I get the hella-flush thing. I don't mean quite like that, just using inspiration from older models. The 997 Sport Classic is not a million miles off what I'd be aiming for, still a few too many wings and scoops for me though. I guess I'll just have to use my imagination...

My son has a 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle done in 1973 911 Carrera RS style: Signal Yellow (more orange than yellow, actually), duck tail rear spoiler, slammed front end (that means he lowered it to the max), disc brakes, dechromed, 356 SC hood handle, front Cibie rally lights, Fuchs alloys, full custom interior with a dash that looks like a 914-6 and has the 914-6 VDO gauges, custom performance seats, heavily modded 2.4L engine (from a 914 2.0 4cyl engine) that includes a 911-style fan shroud and generator, and much more.
The paint job includes a large, fat, curvy black arrow that is the same style as the road sign that shows Curves Ahead. Starts at the lower front of the hood, goes up and over the roof, and down the back over the spoiler.
