Default The deed is done...

Took a long drive down from Victoria, BC to Seattle to look at a couple of 996's and ended up pulling the trigger on a CPO 6-speed 2004 Guards Red C4S Cab with the X51 Power Kit from Barrier Motors with the following options:

G1 Guards Red
V9 Black Top
AH Black Full Leather
X51 Carrera Power Kit
M6A Black Mats - Porsche lettering
Z0997 Custom Tailoring
513 Lumbar Support-Right Seat
586 Lumbar Support-Left Seat
P82 Technic Package
- 342 Heated Front Seats
- 446 Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
- 680 Bose High End Sound Package
- P74 Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package
XCA Trim Strip Alu. Look
XCB Instrument Panel Alu. Look
CCS Switch Trim Cent Air Mt.Alu LK

2004 C4S Cab @ Barrier Motors

I test drove the car on some of the worst roads on the planet (Apologies to the Seattle folks, but your highways are amongst the worst I've ever driven on). The transaction was surprisingly pleasant - Stephen at Barrier was great to deal with and they were extremely flexible with their pricing and I ended up pretty happy with what I got.

A big thanks to all the folks on the board for helping with my questions and special thanks to Ed (ivangene) who went out of his way to do some recon on the car!!! Ed - I definitely owe you a couple!!

Now comes the wait - I'm travelling the next couple of weeks and the earliest I can pick up the car two weeks from now. Well, it'll give me a chance to order some mods for the car while I wait!

I spent the drive home thinking about what I want to do first - definitely a SS kit, along with a NAV\BT\XM headunit (probably go to Benchmark Motors). I definitely need some winter tires - dont know whether to run 17s' or 18's in the winter - any feedback here?

And finally, some hastily & badly shot picturess of the car. I had to catch a ferry for my trip back to the island and didn't have much time to take the pics (ended up missing it thanks to the Canadian Customs & Immigration folks who ended up giving me "special" treatment on the way back home, but that's another story) !

Way to go Canuck. I bought my car in Bellingham and imported it to Vancouver.

I'm sure you're already aware, but you do not have to pay the WA state tax. You do pay 6.1% duty and both taxes though.

What did you do to **** the border guys off?

Nice cab with plenty of options. No doubt Ed will be piling on the miles in the next two weeks for you. Congrats on a beautiful Porsche!

Beautiful car. Guards red rocks.

Just tell the cop you were confused between MPH and KPH, as you bought the car in the US.
