Default took the 40th for its first autox yesterday...

Gotta get the pics from my girlfriend but it went pretty well! I won Super Stock against a couple of Z06 corvettes. I dreaded being on street tires but the car was fun. Took a lot of getting used to but I learned fast and got the PSM off on the 3rd and 4th runs with no problems.

Didn't hit any cones so I was unable to test the durability of the front bumper...good I guess.

It might not be as high-speed as HPDE but an autox really lets you learn the handling of the car for those of you who haven't tried it...

40th has an LSD, right? How did the car behave at the limits?

I punted a cone last month... with black, its a PITA to clean up the paint, but the bumper can take it

Nice job getting it out and having a spot of fun. Our set up is a little differant and since I volunteer (because I am too cheap to pay ) I get to run for free in the "open session" As the day wears on it can get down to just 3 cars and with 2 on the course at a time, as soon as I am back in line, its time to roll!! - one month I think I must have taken 20+ laps one right after the other.... that was really helpful! This year I must have over 100+ times thru the gates and I feel so much better - until I ride with someone really good LOL
the good news is I can pick up on what they are doing that I am not and work on those subtle areas to pick up speed and smoothness. Its really the best place for me.... glad you are having fun too!

I've punted a few and it's never been an issue. If you're really worried about it, you can add a bit of painters tape to the front corners and just before the rear tire on the skirt area as that's where I tend to tap them.

How did you like it? Even though my car is not the weapon of choice in terms of classing, it's still a hoot to drive. I love the rear engine as I can TTOS the car quite easily if it's a quicker course. My car gets a bit frustrating when there are 180's or very slow corners that require me to downshift in to first.
