Question How many 2005 996 C4S out there?

Does anyone know or where can I find out how many 2005 996 C4S's are out there? I would like to know "how exclusive" this is.

Also, do all 2005 996 C4S's come with the X51 Carrera power kit (345 hp) and XLF Sport Exhaust System?

Is it safe to assume that if I find an X51 with the XLF that I should snag it immediately?

2005 was the last year the 996 C4S was sold. The 997 was introduced that year. The X51 didn't come standard with any of the 996 line up with the exception of the 50th anniversary. So to find a x51 and non tip is rare.

I drove an X51 and I'm just not sure I can feel the difference. Yes, I maximized all usable RPM's on the car. So, how do I know if the car actually has the X51? I.e. - with the Sport Exhaust, it's obvious and I have a button to push to turn it on/off. With the X51, are there any VISUAL cues?

Doesn't the X51 include an aluminum intake manifold (rather than plastic)?

Headers are bigger. Also the options are listed on the underside of the frond hood.

From the PDF that Phil sent, X51 "Includes modified cylinder heads, camshafts, exhaust manifolds, control unit, and aluminum intake manifold."

Sorry for the ignorance on my part... but how easy is it to see the "aluminum intake manifold"?

Only if that's the specific car you desire. I would not purchase any 996 for any kind of reason that includes "rarity".

Sorry, I should have been more explicit... Can I see it without having to put the car on a lift? Can I see it when the back trunk is popped open to expose the engine compartment?

Good point, the X51 and sport exhaust was not a "must have" option in my list. And I'm not too keen about the color. The stealer is asking a little bit too much for it as a "premium" (about $2k over a car that wouldn't have it), but to your point, it wasn't specific to what I wanted. Maybe I should keep the search going...

Also, I actually bought a paint thickness meter. Some areas of the car was low 3.0 to 3.5. It makes me think that the car was buffed to death as the paint is now thin. Or is it supposed to be that way? Hmmm... I'll start a new thread.

You can clearly see the aluminum intake manifold

BTW, I have an 03 C4S with X51 and sport exhaust. It is has the X-73 suspension, and full aero kit also. When I was shopping around for cars, it was such a rare find that I bought it right away.

C4S with X51, sport exhaust, X73, and aero! That's rare and a good find. I want one of those!
