Default 09 M3 style steering wheel on 996

I'm trying to get that "fat steering wheel" feel like the 2009 BMW M3. Anyone hear of this steering wheel being installed on a 996? or any other recs?

Send your steering wheel off to Don and have him pad it and re-wrap it with leather or Alcantara. He's done great work for a me and a couple other Rennlisters.

+1

I also had that done by them, in Alcantara. Thicker, a LOT more hand grip. Warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than leather

Its my DD as well... I think it took him a week total. Give him a buzz - he was very easy to work with. He even sends you pics of the work before he sends it back to you - in case you don't like something, or want to make changes...

^^^ This sounds about right, and that for for all of my pieces. Malakas had multiple pieces done as well. If you just want your wheel done, I'm sure he could turn it around for you pretty quickly. Drop him a note or call; he'll fix you up.

I was going to say get a gt3 wheel in alcantara but I imagine that this route is much cheaper and the craftsmanship does look good...

The steering wheel by Don with padding was ~$320. The factory Alcantara wheel is ~$900 + shipping. I got all of my bits, including the wheel, covered and shipped back to me for just under $1k.

I don't DD my C4S, but its gets driven every weekend, and has spent a few days at the track and it all still looks great; I couldn't be happier.

Slightly off topic, why do some cars have this shift ****:

While others have this shift ****:

My apologies if this is a dead horse.

They are all optional *****.

Mine is from the GT3. I had the e-brake and bin cover done to match the OEM shifter.

I think Whitey's is the optional tequipment aluminum one.

I figured it was something like that. Thanks for the info, though I could have done without knowing the shift **** in my car costs $440! That's just ridiculous.
