Okay, I went to Pawn America yesterday to look for a Valentine detector, who knows, huh? So, I pull into the parking lot from the sidestreet entrance and park the P-car by the side of the building. Approximately 12 spaces there, another empty row of spaces and then some spaces and cars next to the doctor's office adjacent to the lot. Maybe, maybe, 4 cars in the area I was parked (did I say that this was at Pawn America?) and felt comfortable taking two spots. Okay, I am a butt, but I wasn't putting out anybody. It was a medium size lot with plenty of spaces. I did see a sign (12 X 18) that said Doctor's office only parking. I went inside, looked, didn't see any radar detectors and waited for someone to ask. Seemed like all of a sudden there was only one rep there, when I thought there were four or five when I walked in. So I waited my turn, no, they only had some old escorts, so I walk out the door. There is my car being towed I stop the guy....$100 cash, or, he said, I'll take down to the "lot"(?) and it will be $260! Oh, the Pawn America "reps" were out there watching. I pay up, he drops the car....."Ahh, no receipt, pal, Know what I'm sayin'? Unnerstand whad I mean"? Pissed me off! BIG TIME!!!! But, what could I do? He had me by the short hairs. Freakin', Fu*kin'. MOTHER ****N', SOMES A BITCHES, **** SUCKN', FUKRS!!! (rant off)

I know I screwed up, my bad......BUT, 12 to 15 minutes?!! All the reps knowing what was going down and not getting me? (the only guy in the pawn shop with a sport coat on and not wearing athletic shoes) No receipt? Like I said, my bad, but I feel like a cop tazed my drunk sister. Yeah, she may have deserved it, but, ****, it ain't over 'til it's over.........

All over the top, but I am glad that I caught him before my baby went to the "lot". AND, I am glad that I am fortunate enough to have $100+ walking around money.

Any ideas? See whad I'm sayin?

Sounds like a well-oiled machine. I'm sure you weren't the only one towed that day.

Get a tazer, park in the same spot and wait for him to return... use tazer, take back $100 and pawn tazer at the pawn shop

That sucks!!!

BTW, Phil would NEVER have been in that situation because he never drove his car on public streets!

Dude, that's does sound like well oiled machine. Did you see any water dripping from the tow truck's pipe (assuming it was gas)? He was probably around the corner of the building, truck sitting cold, eating a hamburger waiting to get called from his buddies that 'another easy $100 showed up'. I wonder how much he'd've asked you for if you were driving a Toyota?

was the docs office even open? or after hours/weekend?

i would have sat there a couple spots over and waited for the next guy to park there and told him what happened. and when the tow truck driver gets tired of losing $100 every car you warned, he would give your $$ back to go away. he is probably making $4-500 a day like that, and giving some to the pawn shop.

Just why didn't the pawn shop have a LARGE sign on the entry door warning of this possibility..?

Part of the problem, on the "take"...??

I would go park there everyday and wait till the tow truck comes along then take off.
He'll get tired od the Dr's office calling him.

$100 lesson learned, I would just not do it again...though I like the idea of wasting a lot of time since I have SO much extra time these days

Wink

Yeah, Oh Boy....I am the king of passive/aggressive. I am trying to stop. I'd rather just swallow it like an indigestable lump and pour alcohol and food on it. I prolly get hold of the Minnesota Revenue Bureu and tell them. $100 cash/no reciept.....what could possibly be going on that's unlawful? But thanks guys. Seeing my baby hooked up behind a rusty, dirty tow-truck, a driver who hadn't changed his T-shirt yet that week, those creeps watching...Oh God, now I'm getting upset.

What would I do? First off, Tim's right - park my car in ANY lot?!!? I almost got into a fistfight when a jerk in a Ford F350 nearly hit my door at a Starbucks (several years ago). But, if I saw the sign that said "doctor's office only parking" and I parked there, they wouldn't tow me. No MD plates, but yeah, I'm a doc. I knew it was good for something. And BTW, you got totally hosed, no question. I'd be furious.
