Default Richard Scruchy's Car Auction

So the guy was the CEO of Healthsouth and has gone to jail for federal crimes, yadda yadda. Interesting part is that they seized his cars (19 of them) and auctioned them off today. Two of which were Porsches, and I'm sure you'll get a kick out of the winning bids.

2001 Porsche 911 Turbo: $55,000

1997 Porsche 911 Turbo: $87,500

Just what in the hell was going on with those people?

A few other good ones.

1994 BMW 850 CSI: $40,000 (High Retail price is 15k)

1993 Chevy Suburban: $4,500 (High Retail 2k)

There were 19 cars and all told only four went for under "high retail", and some were well over double retail. My boss went hoping for a deal and saw some car dealers there who just ended up laughing. Absolutely ridiculous. And these cars aren't even currently titled! Some may have liens against them, who knows!

So just remember guys, when you try to sell your 996 be sure to go to jail for federal crimes before-hand.

Maybe going to jail adds credence to the car's history?!

Sounds like Barrett Jackson: "A 100% original, numbers matching '76 Ford Granada, with vinyl slipcovers and original tires. Do I hear $70k?"

The 97' Turbo number is right. Hell I've seen them go for over $150k for a Turbo S. Those are truly an amazing car.

This post is the best argument for health reform I've seen yet! These execs are weasels.

The Minni Cooper went for about the list price of a new one - people were laughing out loud at the bidders.

Two of the cars were bought by a lawyer/firm who rerasenting an individual who had sued Scrushy and won. They were making some kind of statement or ploy. He bid about $10K to $20K over the last bid.
