Default 996 automatic rear spoiler issue

Hi, 1st time 2001 996 C2 owner here.

Mine seems to have developed a fault with the rear automatic spoiler in that only the LHS rises. I've had a good search around on the web for information as to how the mechanism functions but have not found much!
Does anyone know if this can be fixed at home or if it's a dealer job?

Also, where do you folks obtain schematics etc from?

many thanks for any help.....

John

I would assume "Left hand side"

yep, sorry, Left hand side is what I meant.
I visited my local OPC to check out the cost of a new spoiler lifting mechanism (basically a couple of cables excluding the electric motor) and it turned out to be £745. I'm afraid in this instance it's a visit to the breakers for a replacement mechanism £130 for a complete cover & spoiler.
Hopefully that should sort it out.

Its not much, I figure about $45 shipping for the assembly (less the spoiler) and maybe only $10 more if the spoiler is included

in my case I already sold the bellows to another RL member in Canada so the unit is no longer complete - that said.... you know I have another one (in black) that IS complete

well, the used engine lid & spoiler arrived.
After a few hours of tinkering and many many protective covers I stripped both spoilers down and now have a fully working rear spoiler again -

Should be able to drive the car a little quicker now!

Thanks for your help

Jeeze Ed... you have a nice amount of inventory. Hint... you should let things break before buying stuff.... especially the shiny ones.
