Default Help! 2 years of ownership, zero problems..NORMAL?

You read it right. This month marks my 2 year anniversary with my second wife (an 03 996). The 996 has been my daily driver having put around 10K miles on it, gets driven in winter with snow shoes and a hard top and is simply a joy to drive.
I park it everywhere and use it and abuse it and it keeps on ticking. Apart from one nagging issue (that I could have just forgotten as it was nothing really), I have had zero issues.

The point I am trying to make is, this car makes you love it, cherish it and it still makes me get up in the morning wanting to drive it. Even though this is just a car, the bond between her and myself is here to stay.

Enjoy what you have. This is a beautiful machine.

I've had my 02 996 C4S for 3 and a half years and it runs perfect. Never had a repair, only regular maintenance, comsumables, etc.

Most reliable car I've ever owned. I have 64k miles and it drives/looks brand new

These are *very* reliable cars. If you have a car that's been well maintained and has low miles, I'd say your situation falls into the realm of normal.

Marc, please don't say that. I'd be heartbroken. I am NOT ready for a divorce.

Hey, like any relationship you can get past the little issues and move on.

But , I have had my car for around 2 years now and other than brakes or oil the first real repair is this week, Left bank catalytic converter and covered under emissions warranty so no complaints.
My Boxster S was just as reliable.

Hey same here. 02 C4S for 3 years. I've put more miles on her than the previous owner did (only put 9k in 4 years) and it has been extremely reliable.

*knocks on wood*

p.s.
I did have an RMS leak which was repaired only once by the dealer and has been dry since. (Extended Warranty)

p.p.s.
Oh yeah the idler pulley was replaced. (Extended Warranty)

Yup, it's normal. That's why 2/3 of all Porsches ever built are still on the road today.

Thats hard to believe, but amazing if true. Where's your source for this?

I hope you were knocking on a table when you wrote the OP

Honestly, I bet most 996 owners don't have many issues. People on these forums make up a small percentage of owners, and I iimagine some people with problematic cars find their way here in order to discover if what they are experiencing is normal.

Man, I am so glad to see this post. Had mine for a few months and from frequenting
this forum and seeing all the " my car is broken" posts I was starting to worry about what I'd gotten into.

So far I've only needed that which I knew I did going in. A new key and new turn signal stalk that won't click off when triggered.

Of course, my car being 10 years old, that could change any time.

I have just over 80,000 miles on my car, and it has had a few things here and there. The RMS and IMS were done at 74,000 miles. It needs a new passenger's side window regulator. The other window regulator was done last year. Other than that, it has been nothing but routine maintenance. It starts every morning, and it has never left me stranded. I've been quite impressed with the reliability.

Same here. I had $10K set aside the first year for issues. It went into the mods budget after the first year was up because I did not have to spend it on fixing too many things; just maintainance stuff.

You usually get posts with people asking questions about a problem on forums. This leads you to think that these cars are like Ferraris...
