Help What to do with my car
I have a 99 C2 5speed, full leather, supple, Aero, sport wheels long list of options.. and only 26k on the car. With the job market getting dicey and spouse pressure, ""having too many cars""!! I put the car up on consignment in March.
Well the good news is I still have my job. The last couple of weeks I have been missing the 911. I have been thinking of pulling it from the car lot. Well the other day, I get call with an offer of 26500. The offer does not knock me off my feet. I know where Porsche prices are these days. But the reality is finding a nice loaded well care for car at those prices gets more challenging.
So what do I do???? Over head of the car is only insurance, light maint and garage space.

If you are serious about selling it, then I'd take the offer. If you decide to negotiate, I wouldn't expect much more.
This is a very reasonable offer.
If your heart can't let you sell it at that price, then I wouldn't sell it at all. You are not likely to see offers higher, and the cars continue to depreciate.
Good luck.

I would sell it, then take the proceeds and invest them in a mutual fund. When the time is right, and you are comfortable about your job again, you will have enough to buy a nicer newer 911 since prices are going down, down, down.

That's a good price for a '99. I would take it and then have fun hunting for your next toy. That's what I'm doing. If you hold out and keep the car longer, it will only go down in value. I'm an expert at that piece.

Imagine how much he'll be whining after he sells the car...."I still miss her" and "God, I loved that car." We all have done it. I just hope he doesn't come back later and whine about it here.
P.S. I think he should sell it, too. I didn't read anything in his original post that said he was passionate about the car.

passionate ? I am working on the second year of ownership and I now have a plexiglass barrier in the garage to keep me from drooling on my own car!!!
still making trips to see it, still wash it with love and still talk sweetly to her... - I know its not the best, and may even be rather poor overall in some aspects, but its mine and I am very passionate about it!!!

You should have sold it = what else (seriously) ??? There's lots of these cars out there and your car is getting ready to blow the engine in about another 20K miles anyway. My 99' 996 survey with Porsche Indy's and what I have read here and elsewhere indicates that the 99's 'blow point ' mainly fell at about 40K - 50K miles (mine blew at 54K miles). If it lasted to 60K miles, it likely would last a long time, but otherwise the big-bang is getting ready to pop. Take the money and run and be sure to spell out in the sales receipt 'No warranty expressed or implied..."(R-U-N). Then decide later what you want.

Thanks guy’s for all you input and support. I do love this car and always enjoyed owning a Porsche. I am a car junky and had a lot of cars in my years. This car has been real good to me. I like the Aero package on the older cars. I also like clean cars when I get them. This car was 3 or 4 years old and only 9k on it.
As you can see I am really perplex about this decision. As a lot of you have indicated this maybe a good time to move on. The other side of me is I really enjoyed this car. I am not one to whining when gone. Well maybe to the wife. Always good to do a guilt trip… One you decide you live with your choice…
Thanks again all.. You have been great. Excellent points..

I think you can simplify it to:
1) You will NEVER be able to get a car as nice or set up the way you like, so keep it, and sell it if/when you MUST sell it.
2) You CAN find a newer and better version, and will be better off selling now and holding the money until you are comfortable buying another 996/997.
