Default Loose exhaust tip. Rusted tight clamp bolt. I'm an idiot.

How the h*ll to I get that darn thing loose? Sprayed it with WD40, but it is frozen. I can't be the first who has struggled with this, but I'm sure I'm struggling more than the average bear. Help?

Maybe try some PB Blaster to help loosen the hardware??? WD40 is not really a widely used rust buster, more so merely a thin, spray-on lubricating fluid. Heat from a cautiously-directed propane torch will help in some cases. Be advised that you might snap off your frozen nut or bolt, but that's the breaks so to speak. Also: there are no idiots on this board

I remember mine were tough too. I used an air socket and it came off pretty good.

Mine had the same issue. I removed the muffler from that side, tried to get the bolt loose with a breaker bar. Ended up flexing (Twisting) the bolt. A little oxyacetylene and bolt and nut where separated. If yours is that stubborn, just cut the bolt and get a new clamp. They're around $15-19 and will make reassembly much easier.

Heat it up and then PB blast it. Use some antisieze when you tighten it back down.

Bust it off and replace the bolt with a conventional set up. Not as sexily hiddin as the factory carriage bolt but I haven't noticed any difference.

+1 Sears Hardware Store has cad plated nuts and bolts - better than Home Despot selection. Lowe's might have a selection. Alternatively, order a real set from Sunset or your stealer...

I've been at it for two days. What's the size of the nut, 15 or 16mm? I'll try to get it off with a deep socket and air ratchet next. If that doesn't work I'll try to torch it and then work it loose. After that it will come off by hook or crook. Pain in the ***.

At least it got me to do some over due things. I put it on stands and took the wheels off to get them good and clean, changed the rear brake pads, will bleed the lines tomorrow, and will attempt replace the oil sender (pressure sensor) unit Monday.

If you end up cutting/ruining the clamp while removing, I'd order the Fabspeed clamps...better design so you don't end up in the same situation!
