Ed,
I would like to see your old hood, and car when it gets out of the shop. My car was originally a daily driver up in the Sinammish (sp??) highlands, and got sand and rock chipped during the winters.

I thought of the silver one - I know it would look great on black... but I saw somewhere that there is a reason Porsche never offered a silver one - something to do with the original family crest... so no silver - the new one arrived from Sunset today
new crest, gasket and nuts - about $120
For sale - old one...... $50

I can't say for sure why Porsche never offered a silver badge, but IIRC the Porsche badge is based on the Stuttgart coat of arms overlayed on the Wiemar-era Freier Volksstaat Württemberg (Free People's State of Württemberg) coat of arms. Those are better represented in gold.

OK so at first I didnt get it... they look the same - then I asked and GOT IT
The 997.1's use what looks like the exact same one as we have (hense the confussion on my part... 1/2 the price???) BUT the GT3's had a "new style in the early models which is now standard on all 997.2's I looks really cheap and like an injection molded piece of plastic. Very smooth outter surface and no raised surfaces...
BLAH !! - looks cheap as hell - same colors as the original........ I am having a 996 sent up and it will be here Tuesday (hopefully) as my car is getting closer... what once was yellow is now BLACK !!
I never did get the weights on the 2 hoods, but I can tell you the GT2 hood is 30 pounds lighter
OHHHHHH - any one interested in a drivers front OEM fender new in box??? - we didnt use it, but bought it...great, now its mine...... sell at dealer cost (I will know monday what that is)
