Im looking to purchase this 2000 C2. It has 15000 miles and asking 28800. As you can imagine the car is very clean except for the tires may need to be replaced or at the very least balanced. It is twitching at 80 MPH.

Welcome!

Have you had a PPI done? I think that would help determine if the deal is a good one or not.

Very nice cab. Get a PPI done and if everything comes clean, do it. Put soem wheels on it and new tires and you are ready to roll.

Twitchy handling may be tire imbalance, improper tire inflation pressure, wrong tires, mis-matched tires, or alignment.

Mis-alignment may just be due to normal wear/tear, mainly springs settling. Car may have not come aligned to spec from factory (hey, it happens!) or driver may have bumped a curb once or twice.

Or car could have been in collision and improperly repaired.

How old are tires and what do the tread faces look like?

Inspect car very carefully. Ask owner lots of questions. Ask to see all service records/invoices.

Seller should provide you with CarFax report. If it is clean this still not sufficent to accept car as having clean record. If record dirty though..., if car has had major body/paint work from severe accident, walk away.

If you get anwers that alleviate your concerns and can find no reason to reject car *then* have PPI done by qualified tech.

Sincerely,

Macster.

If the car's history is clean, the price is OK. So many cheaply priced cars are a disaster. I've seen many, and even '06s for sale that have been poorly taken care of and are in worse shape cosmetically than my '99 Cab. The cheap prices are often a reflection of that. These cars will tramline and wander at freeway speeds with low tire pressure (under 40 psi) which is very common.

Default Thank you all...

Thank you all for the advice.
Im in NYC.

The car will be going in for a PPI tomorrow at the Porsche dealerhip in Danbury CT. The agreed price is 28000. I took the car up on a lift today and there is some oil at the end of the crankcase. Not dripping just moist. Looks like a leak of the RMS. Ive seen worse and not so worried with it. This will be my fourth Porsche.

Thank you all again.

Michael
