Default has anyone fitted mk1 cats to a mk2 996?

I have some early 996 cats, and they are the same externally compared to the later 996 cats, yet the part numbers are different in the PET. Could the internals be different?

Has anyone fitted early 996 (01 for example) cats to a later 3.6 996 (2002 for example)?

Thank you!

The entire exhaust systems are interchangeable but not optimal. The 3.6 had a better header design over the 3.4. Even the GT3 cats will bolt on a MK1 996. Later 996s simply used different exhaust tips due to the bumper design being different but everything underneath was the same.

Paul, thanks for the info - so you don't think the cats are any different? I surely can't see a difference from the outside based on measurements, or even looking inside.
