I ordered my Sumis today. $708 w/road hazzard to my door for 4 tires (04 40th edition w/18s). Replacing Pzeros. I will keep my two fronts for back ups if needed. I just couldn't justify $780 for 2 Pzeros for a daily driver. I hope they will be delivered tomorrow or Friday.

Interested in what sizes did you go with in the end.

Thanks, just want to confirm before I pull the trigger on these tomorrow.

Mine is 00 Carrera, stock tires are 225/40x18F, 265/35x18R. Could you confirm that putting those 285/30's on the back will:

1. Fit my stock factory wheels
2. Not cause any rubbing
3. Not cause alignment issues

BTW are stock 4-wheel alignment settings ok on a daily driven road car? or are ther any recommended tweeks required there.

Sorry for all the questions but I know a lot about 951's but absolutely nothing about 996's.

Mike,

Assuming you have 10" wide rear wheels. the 285/30 will NOT cause any rubbing or alignment issues. Also, Porsche stock alignment settings are fine for a daily driver.

285/30 18's will fit your stock 10" rears fine and should not cause any rubbing or alignment issues with stock offsets. If you want to reduce understeer a titch you could also move to 235/40 fronts.

FWIW, I use 295/30 r and 235/40 f on my '02 996 (GT3 size wheels and offsets) with no rubbing.

Finally, if you want a little more aggressive alignment for the street I suggest you try the x74 alignment settings.

Tires just dropped off at the house. Boy was that fast. Order placed 7:30am on 7/15/09 and all 4 delivered at 1:50 pm on 7/16/09.
I think I will take a personal day tomorrow to have them installed.

Why didn't you have them delivered to the shop you're going to install them at? How are you getting them there?

That's what I've done with Tire Rack in the past - huge convenience!!!

I am not sure which shop I am going to use. I am going to get some string and tie them to the roof.

Not. My daughter, who is playing couch potatoe this summer, will follow me in her durango.

That is what I will be doing when I bring the two old front tires back home. I am hoping they will fit in the back seats.

Holy crap, you must have gotten some looks when you pulled up to the tire shop. Talk about efficient use of space!
