Default PCM 1 Repair or Replacement

My 2002 PCM1 system screen has gone out but the Nav and all other radio functions continue to work even though the screen is blank. I’ve had advice suggesting that is a bad backlight ( a CCFL Transformer possibly). Porsche won’t work on the system and will only swap out for a refurb at the ridiculous price of $3700 for parts alone.

1. Does anyone know a “car stereo guy” in the NY Metro area who would work on/repair what is likely a $5 diode behind the screen?
2. Absent anyone willing to repair the unit, who has done a non-MOST PCM1 conversion to a Kenwood or Pioneer double DIN unit and what is needed to get the fit and finish right? Again, any references for someone who has done such job in the NY Metro area would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks guys, but after checking with the Becker people in NJ and not finding anyone who would tackle this for a reasonable amount of money I decided to "make lemonade out of lemons" and replaced the unit with a modern double din one with all the new bells and whistles. LOVE it!
