You need to drive more and worry less. The 996 isn't made out of glass. Follow the OM - you'll be fine

manual says to let the car idle for a bit before shutdown after hard driving. When autocrossing I don't shut down between runs as the temp drops faster with the fluids circulating.

Referring to the title of the thread, I don't think you will see any 996 engine failure from
a normal cooling cycle.

duuuuhhhh! - of course not! You don't sit in your car for hours with it not running matey - the only time the car dies - is when you are in it. So yes - you are correct
