Looking at a 2002 996 with a build date of 7/02. It has a CDR220 and a CDC-3 with "digital sound" whatever that means.

The salesman thought CDC-3 meant it was a Most bus car, but I really don't know what to look for in order to tell.

From the above info, can anyone tell me?

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the MOST cars use the CDR-23 and CDC-4

My early build 996 (9-01) has a CDR 220. It kind of sucks but it's not a MOST system.

That all depends on your point of view.

Some people actually like the 2002 model and earlier models because they still have copper wires, and you can replace the OEM system with an aftermarket system much more easily.

Correct.
MOST was "supposed" to be introduced for MY02, but due to delays, an analog system was put together (literally at the last minute)....
MOST ended up being released on MY03.

In an ironic twist of fate, Porsche was NOT supposed to be the first one to deploy MOST, they were supposed to be the last after Mercedes and Audi...just didn't work out that way.
