Default Remove Aero Kit front chin spoiler lip/splitter for daily driving; replace for track?

I'm about to install the Aero Kit Mk II front bumper on an X74 lowered 2003 coupe. The ramp on my driveway is going to catch the spoiler lip/splitter for sure.

So what I was thinking was to leave the spoiler lip/splitter off for daily driving and put it on only for the track. I would only attach it using the plastic rivets and not use the double sided adhesive so I can easily remove it for the trip home. Does anyone know if using rivets only will hold the spoiler lip/splitter on the car at DE speeds? Or put it another way, has anyone experienced a spoiler lip/splitter held on by only rivets ripping off at track speeds?

I did this for awhile (taking the splitter on and off)...but after loosing the front splitter a couple times at 120+ I decided it needed to stay on there all the time. It's now on there with double sided tape and a bead of silicone to make an air tight seal with the bumper.

It really doesn't rub THAT badly and it has yet to come off...and my car is quite low. However mine is a MKI so the splitter sits back under the bumper a little further allowing for more clearance.

I mean the front spoiler lip a.k.a. splitter. I've clarified the post. Thanks.

I currently have the stock front bumper cover w/ a splitter (it's recessed) and that rubs the driveway ramp unless I am at full steering lock and the approach angle is very tight. I'm pretty sure the Mk II lip is not going to make it.

So what is it like when the splitter comes off? Did you hit a solid object or will the 120+ mph air stream alone pull it off? Is there any collateral damage when it comes off?

Another option is to bolt/zip tie the splitter on for the track and risk damaging the bumper cover if the splitter does not break away.

Didn't hit a thing. Just tends to come off at speeds of over 120 when air getting forced between it and the bumper creates a good bit of force. the two times it happened to me it just got spit out and run over by myself and thrown off the track in the process. However you really don't want to be that guy at the track causing sessions to be shortened from loosing parts...that's why I made sure mine is on there very well now.

A simple way to help avoid the splitter flying off is to cover the gap between the splitter and the bumper cover with duct tape. This stops the air from forcing the splitter off the car.

Cheers,

Ive used the plastic rivets (expansion type)... Ive never had any issues flying off at triple digits... I can see a problem using the plastic screws that comes with the splitter... those are made to break apart.
