Just installed the smart top mod on my 996 Cab and yep it works like a champ. Lets me put my top up and down with 1 touch while rolling at less than 24 mph and roll up the back windows with the top down. I have never messed with the top before and it took me 20 min to install. so it is really easy to install

Please explain the rear window issue for me. I don't know the 996 cabs. Are you saying that before the SmartTop you were unable to put up the rear windows when the tops is down? Even with the side windows up?

I have the SmartTop on my 997S Cab and it's one of the best little mods you can do to a cab!

 

Yes on 996 you have no ability to adjust the rear quarters at all...smarttop is a great mod.

 

Unless you press the latch switch in with your finger.

Wow,--that seems like a good deal, then, with the SmartTop. There isn't any real reason why the rears can function when the top is down. On the 997s they allow the rear sides to come up once the side fronts are up. It's by far one of the best mods for the 996/997 cabriolets!

 

I think Porsche limits the rear windows when the top is down so that they don't get sued by someone that pokes an eye out on the pointy end of the window when standing outside the car and reaching behind the seats for something. I have wacked the side of my empty head on the door window when reaching back for things. "OWW! &%#!! It sure does ring some.
