Question Mistake avoidance ...I hope

I am on the verge of making my first P purchase...a long awaited event. But as I have read...due diligence is not only prudent but without can be quite costly...so maybe this question is not necessary so hit me with your responses. I have found a 2000 c4 911 with 46K original miles...in emaculant condition...with everything working properly. however the car is orginally from Boston and the current owner has had it for the past 7 years...he has kept maticulous records and has performed all recommended maintance. I wanna jump on this purchase and am considering not getting a ppi..what do you recommend. Thanks for your responses. Oh yeah paying $25,000

Why would a couple bucks spent ona PPI not be well spent even if nothing turns up?

That said, I bought mine w/o and inspection and it has been ok so far. I would not repeat that though with the slightest bit of knowledge that I now possess. Not worth the gamble and it doesn't cost much.

Just get it the PPI, buy the car and post some pics already

Well, not having a PPI means you trust yourself to determine if the car is genuinely emaculant. How well do you know cars? Did you look underneath for oil leaks? Did you check the pan underneath and the fit of the doors to look for accident damage.

Did you go through the maticulous records to see what was done and when? Has it ever has a clutch? When were the brakes last done?

Price-wise you're about right, maybe a hair high. Do you really want/need a C4 ? Are the colours pefect? What kind of wheels are on the car, what condition are the tires ?

If any of these questions give you pause for thought, then get a PPI. Otherwise, have at it.

Good luck.

+1 on price being a hair high. $25K including taxes would be a good price.

Have you driven a C4 or any 996? I think the price is fair @ $25k, but performing a PPI.....PRICELESS!!

Emaculant? I don't know that word... but now I've seen it used twice. Do you mean immaculate or emaculate, or is emaculant actually a word and I don't know it?

Anyway... I would get a PPI. It could be the best $300 you spend. When I bought my 996, I paid for a PPI and it showed roughly $2,600 worth of work needed to be done, including a new RMS and IMS. The seller split it with me, so my $300 investment saved me $1,000.

I knew it was immaculate so the second time you saw it used didn't count. I just though it rolled off the tongue better, as did our math teachin' buddy.

For the record it's meticulous and not maticulous also.

Back to the C4 purchase. Do *not* let your heart beat your head to the punch. One of the cars I looked at when shopping recently had been bent and fixed/painted. It wasn't hard to tell, but you did have to look and the seller wasn't going to tell me until I pointed it out and then it was "oh yeah, there's a 12thousand dollar hit on the car, but for a Porsche that's nothing.

Yeah right...loser.

I think it is macculate....... who cares we all know what he meant... I didn't do a PPI (and should have.....but after 4 years and about 30K miles under my foot, I can't complain --Knock on wood)

Ofcourse 300 bucks is the cheapest protection....but then again, do they really see/hear everything?!?! whe they do a PPI...they should, but do they???
