Default Exhaust tips

The mod bug has struck again.

I mentioned in another thread that I'm contemplating switching out my exhaust tips, but it appears that the tips that I have came as part of the B&B muffler system that the previous owner installed. It seems that the stock tips have a connector that is different from that on the B&B muffler.

I hate to switch out the mufflers, as I do really like the sound, but it would be nice to move to either a quad tip, or something closer to a high polish OEM tip.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

you can always weld on a different pipe for the tips of your choice, don't let that dictate your muffler options. Any muffler shop can handle, very simple to relocate tips

Thanks Hans - I didn't think of that. There's a set of OEM tips on ebay right now and I was tempted to get them.

I should call my Porsche body shop and ask if they could do this for me.

Wayne, If your gonna retro fit new tips, any of these should work... since your tips extend further from normal, you should be able to just clamp these down onto your existing B&B outlet bends... just have to make sure the diameter will fit...

^^ that is a good call Ferd. I remember Wayne's exhaust tips is favored towards the inside of the bumper cut out. This can center the look and be the easy way to go.

I like it.

I would love to see these on a 996, they are cool but I could not justify the cost, 900 bucks!

Default Quad tips are nice

Here are the Techquipment ones.

I would like to see the 997 type dual tips available for the 996, but there don't seem to be any.

Call me crazy, but I don't like the idea of having a "fake" second exhaust tip that does nothing. What's wrong with our lovely stock tips??

I like those, but I'm not sure I like the price.

I like the idea and something like that might work - not those though - as the holes are the wrong way around compared to the OEM tips and I think it looks odd.

I agree with you on that. Right now just getting back to something close to OEM would probably work for me.

+1... they look great on the 997 since the bumper cut for the exhaust are square... on the 996 dual tips doesnt look right esp on the Mk1. I prefer tequipment large ovals...
