Default 255/40/17 -> 275/40/17 ??

I currently have 255/40/17 tires on my 17" rims... and am thinking of getting track tires ...Michelin Pilot Cup Sport...

unfortunately they don't come in 255 or 265 width like the PS2 but they only come in 275 width...

below is revs per mile from the 255 tire... and also for the 275 series tire... does anybody think there will be a problem ... I'm using the standard 9" rims which tire rack website says will work with 275 width
my front tires are 225/45/17

its going on a 99 C2 with ROW 030 suspension

PS2 tires
255/40ZR17 REVS per MILE 831
265/40ZR17 REVS per MILE 822

Michelin Pilot Cup Sport tires..
275/40ZR17 REVS per MILE 810

225/45-17 = 25.1" diameter
275/40-17 = 25.7" diameter

This is pretty close to OK. A .6" difference (overall) should be within spec for your ABS system.

I think, a 225/45-17 would go better a 265/40; and a 235/45-17 would work with the 275/40-17. But, you really don't have much of a choice if you are really set on using the MPS_Cup in 17" size.

Personally, I stopped running MPS_Cups for DE since they take so long to get to temp. You might take a look at the R888, Nitto NT01, and BF Goodrich R1 if you are serious about R-comp tires. I think one of Sams/Wal-mart/Costco sells the BF-Goodrich tire. They might have better sizing. I also switched to 18's due to more sizing options.

As a side-point: I have a couple extra sets of 18" track wheels. They are aftermarket (not lightweight), but they work perfect for the track. Let me know if you want a set of 18's and I'll work a deal. One set is 8.5"/10", the other is 8"/10". I'll post pics if you are interested. I also have a set of 18" GT3 wheels [8.5 and 11] that I might part with if you are interested.

THANKS for the tire info.... I'll look at those alternate tires... I've heard good things about MPCS but your right everybody says they take 3-4 laps to heat up... if I do go with a 275 in the rear I can always add a rear GT3 sway bar to take out some of the under steer... I'm gonna stick with the 17" for now... the rims are light and the tires will last longer due to the higher tread depth... but thanks for offering.
