Default Just bought my first Porsche... YAHOO!

Hi All -
I've been lurking here a while as I did research. Yesterday "pulled the trigger" and brought home an '02 cab with 34K miles! A few pics are attached.

Well, just wanted to introduce myself. Will go back to lurking and learning. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge!

Scott

Heh... I had the pics before I even paid for the car. :-) I'm in Woodinville, just above the wineries. Where is XXX? I just might attend... any chance to drive somewhere sounds good!

Crap... I can't stop grinning since I got the car. Face starting to hurt...

Yeah... first speeding ticket coming soon as well, I suspect... :-)

On a related note, anyone have experience with "Platinum" level third-party warranty from Fidelity Warranty Services? It's what Barrier Porsche is pushing and I have a few days to decide. The car checked out "zero problems" at PPI (done by Chris' German in Bellevue WA) but 48 months peace of mind wouldn't be bad. RMS has already been done. Thoughts anyone... ?

+1 - great looking car! Good luck. Only advice on warranties is watch out for the fine print - good to clarify that they will absolutely cover an RMS leak as a litmus, IMO. I'd try to get that in writing, too. Or consider putting that money into a separate account to cover inevitable expenses.

Most of these companies work the same. I got one of these so called a warranties. Some guy phones me up to 'register' me. What??? He know's all the details, my address, car type etc..

So I said, 'What's to register - you already have all the details'?

So he starts in on the , 'Well your coverage is for $750 dollars' and ... I say,

'Whoa! $750.00???!!!

'Oh yes, we pay the first $750 of a problem covered by the warranty.

'Ok, so my motor blows up and costs me $10K to replace and you pay a little over what an oil change would cost me'?

Big pause...

'Um, well, you see if you upgrade to xxx type package we cover up to $5000'.

'Ahhh, I see, so this call to register me is really a shake down for more money'.

Big pause...

'Well Sir I wouldn't call it that.'

'What would YOU call it'?

'An offer of an upgraded service plan Sir'

All for $1500 of course.

I told him no thanks. Beware of the fine print as well. They will download the ECU info after you have a problem and if they find even ONE over rev in the car's history - even BEFORE you bought it - they will not pay for major motor repairs as an excuse that the engine was abused.

You'd be better off putting money into a jar every month to pay for future repairs then give them money and then fight over repairs.
