Default I get my 996 in less than a week!

I just bought a Arizona 2001 Porsche 911 c4 cab. triple black, 19" chrome wheels, aero kit, 44,000 miles and a 100k mile warrenty out the door for $26,500. Wow I can't wait till the guy brings my car. It looks very nice, not to fond of the crazy wheels that are on it but I may upgrade.

This is my first Porsche, I have owned an Audi TT quattro turbo cab., 350z roadster, srt4 and evo when I was younger. I look forward to having the best brand out there. It will be hard to adjust but I am already in love after test driving several.

Now for the nitty gritty, It has chrome wheels which are staggered, they are ok.. So I need a vote should they stay or should they go?( I think I posted the pic correctly)

Next, I am good at searching and do not mind, but is there any extremely important threads that I should know about? I have read about all the crazies out their and their rms probs, but mods that are cheap/easy/free/interesting.

Finally, are there any other Porsche owners my age at around 25???

One last thought, I live in Nc and need a killer plate tag to put on, any Porsche related suggestions?

Congrats on the new ride. The rims should go. Sell them on the Caddy forum.

Those rims are downright scary. I hope you're not even thinking about putting them on your new 996. Please say it ain't so.

I vote GO & as far, far, far away from any Porsche ever again. Maybe on an Escalade or something like that, but they definetely don't belong on that beautiful P-Car. No offense, lol.

The first & most important thing you must change is the Rennlist approved clear side markers (or smoked/blacked since you have a black car). Those pumpkins have got to go. Next, you can paint your calipers red or yellow which seem to be the most popular, or any color you choose. Then, you'll find all kinds of random mods on here, like adding a spoiler switch, painting you center console to match the exterior or do alumalook, carbon fiber, alcantara, etc. The possibilities are endless & you get addicted... But before doing any of these cool DIYs, I say you look for some wheels.

Hard to find, but we are out there. I'm 19 & got my '02 996 soon after turning 18... So far I've met one guy that was like 22 (or something like that, he was in his early 20's for sure) at one of the universities I was attending that had a '99 996 with full factory aero, & on another forum a 20 year old with an '02 as well... So far, I'm the youngest I've met.

Well, anything Porsche related is pretty cliche, like "911 996," or "CARR3RA," "P0RSCH3," etc. Plus normal people usually won't get the whole "911 996" thing, they'll assume something stupid, like that you make $911,996 a year. But you could always try something completely original & that most normal people will actually understand. One that I saw on another forum & really liked was a Lambo with a plate that said "YSOFICR," & another that had "WHY TRY" or something like that.

Leia, welcome to Rennlist and Congrats on gettin getting a nice looking Cab.

The wheels HAVE to go!!! No question about it! Also, it is hard to tell by the pics, but it looks like the rear wheels are the wrong offset for your cab. The C4 is a narrow body car, unlike the C4S which is a wide body car. Before you get other wheels ask here about correct widths and offsets for your car. We can keep you from making a BIG mistake and save you some $$$.

Mods: (after the wheels get replaced)
Harvest the pumpkins and install clear side markers
Aluminum Gauge Rings
Aluminum Pedals
I'll stop there for now.

There might be one other Rennlister that is your age. Just kidding, but I may not be too far off.

Nice introduction and thanks for posting the pics, even better since you posted them BEFORE you got the car! That just shortened your "Newbie" status by 50 posts!

I really like these wheels, according to the previous buys they have sold them for as low as 640 for the set and I could reuse the tires that come with the rims(assuming they are in good condition).

Don't worry. If we'll let the front engine crowd sit at the table, we can deal with your bling.

+1

Stick with a classic Porsche type wheel.

Congrats on the purchase... you'll love it.

Ha!

Everything in time, but they are a bit blingy....

But who cares, have fun learning the fine art of 911 driving.
