just a pic of the underside of my car
had some service done today and i took advantage of my car being up to take a pic with my cellphone. i just like how smooth the undercarriage is for aerodynamic purposes.
also, sliced open the oil filter and not particles. nada, zip, zilch.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one here who takes lift shots! Here's my 04 Boxster S on the lift last year DIYing the 45k maintenance. (Love those $2.50/hr lifts at the auto hobby shop!) The 986 shares most of the underbody panels with the 996 (even have the same part numbers), but it differs towards the rear:
Not really the greatest representation of a Boxster belly, though, considering half the one rear-most panel is broken off and missing... which was unfortunately incredibly understated in the PPI and I didn't realize it until I did the 45k inspection myself. "some cracking" my ***! Word of warning: don't let hacks jack your cars, guys, those panels carry the Porsche tax!

Whats the best way to remove the cosmoline from the engine and trans? I like to see raw aluminum and magnesium instead of the burnt toast looking coating all over the underside.
sjfehr is right about the cost to replace the plastics, all told over $500,

He was talking about the wide, curved shaped plateat the front of the car. Yes, that is an aftermarket skid plate to protect the nose. I don't recall where Dan got it.
