Default Misfire

Hey guys I have a MY00 996 Tip with 38k miles. I just took the car out of storage two weeks ago. This morning after having the car sit in the garage for a week (35 degrees outside) at startup I notice a ping/pop sound while idling. Also the check engine light blinked a few times and went away. So I drive to work anyway. Once I get to work roughly 16miles of a drive, I remembered I had my OBDII reader in car (real basic one). I pulled two codes P0300 & P0306 (misfire/cylinder 6).

Now after doing quick searches I find out it may be a cracked coil?

What are the chances my spark plugs need to be replaced? I planned on changing them soon.

Not sure what next steps are? Due to tough economic times, can't really afford to spend too much money. I greatly appreciate everyones assistance.

Coil pack part number? Price(s)?
Spark Plug part number? Price(s)?

DIY Job?

Thanks!

May have nothing to do with the coils or plugs. May have been a one time hicup. If it is not doing it now, don't worry about it. Coils do not need to be replaced when they are cracked. They can be easily sealed.

Is it still last years fuel? Did you put fuel stabilizer in the tank before storing it away?
maybe a fresh tank of fuel will take care of the misfiring?

I am hoping it is just a one-time hiccup. The car runs smooth at idle and even after normal drives. I did clear the codes. How are they sealed?

I put fresh new gas in the car after taking it out of storage.

Thanks!

As others said, I'd clear the codes and go on with life. If there's an actual issue it will pop up again.

I replaced my coils when they were cracked. 1999 has mentioned sealing cracked coils before but I'm not aware of anyone having done this with successfully.

Will the issue most likely always happen during start-up?

There are many ways to do it but the easiest is to simply spray them with epoxy paint (from a can) after cleaning them. This can be done when you change your plugs. Or, you can do it the AMERICAN way and just buy new parts.

During engine cool down, all heated parts will attract the moistuire from the air. This includes all inside breathable parts of the engine and all external parts. Therefore, you are at more risk of electrical problems at startup.
