Default I went to look at a German spec 1983 911 Turbo Today

The car is one owner and in impeccable shape. I have a question though.
Does anyone know the German or European specs for an 83 Turbo? I.e its 0-60 time and top speed. I don't believe a Turbo was available in the states in 83, just the 911SC, is this correct?

What a gorgeous car and no, I wouldn't trade my 996 in, but rather add the 83 to the stable. 'course it does have over 120,000 miles on it.

Grey market car, 300 horses, 0-60...these cars aren't really great at getting off the line but early 5's, I'd imagine for 0-60.

Hey, I know that car. It's at a dealership right near me in Rockville MD correct? I agree, get it and a full comparison write-up is in order.

My wife and I have ogled the car quite a few times,

If it is a gray market car, it may not be insurable. It will also be difficult to finance if you are going that route. The turbo model was not imported again into the US until 1986 (emissions and safety standards kept the turbo out of the US since 1980).

80s are the biggest era of gray market cars and there was no US turbo in 1983. If the vin begins with WPOZZZ (or WPOJ for Canada), it is not a US car.

Yeah that's the one. They also have a fine looking 928 GTS.

Yeah that is a big concern, plus I just purchased an 09 Yamaha R1 so I'm not in the the buying mood atm. But man, what a nice looking 911.

Per an article in Excellence

0-30 in 4 seconds
31-60 in one second

I definitely would. There were several companies that "converted" these non US cars to be sorta legal, usually by adding a lot of, um, crap. A good ppi is a must because you never know what was done to these cars. People wanted turbos when none were available, so people would sometimes do anything to make a buck. Not saying this car is that way, but everything should be considered, so make sure you go through it very well. Best of luck!
