This is a BAD MOD, the cup holders dont work at all, they are very small and not worth it. There is an aftermarket company than makes a cup holder... someone will chime in with the site (I hope) that is useful. It mounts to the side of the console and rests on the floor, looks great too!

(shut up Tim and Wayne and Redridge and......)

How would you like the GT2 rear wing now as an insentive to finish the mod !! I have one that I would make you a screeming deal on !

(you will understand this later as one of my... "pitch to anyone who says GT2" statements, as I bought a factory GT2 wing and cant get rid of it.... really ! )

again welcome and enjoy in good health

(PM me if you want the wing, I mean REALLY CHEAP )

Well... someone around here wanted me to beat them like a harp seal... so I guess you can call the world wildlife fund guys on me then. I just met up with a dealer who was very motivated to sell - he had the car from Sept 08 and has over hundred other high end cars just sitting there - mind you he does move a lot of Merc's, Jag's, Mazda R8's etc but this car just seemed to sit there.

Funny story: I found out who imported this car and who traded it into the dealer, (Don't ask but I have *connections*)

Seems he brought it into the country from the US in April 08. Lost his licence in June of 08 for one month for going 50km's over the speed limit ($2000 fine) and use of the car for one week plus storage costs. I assume the insurance was an issue after this as the trade happened in early Sept 08.

Here's a tip: NEVER leave you pink insurance slip (that has your name on it) in the little owner's manual kit! Some guy like me who can do something with this info (thankfully he met a *trusted* person who won't abuse this info) can find out a lot about you.

Interesting - I bookmarked a page showing these coffee cup holders already. I HATE the type that look like they are screwed into the air vents or something.
The type in the picture above - your saying they are NG??

Now I recall you told me earlier that they were too BIG. Hmmmmm, poor marketing on your part! I don't want aero push into guardrail because I've got thousands of pounds of downforce that lift the front end off the ground! 'Honey, I can't figure out whats up, I put that new rear wing on and I'm WFO in 5th gear and that Honda Civic just went past us'?? I don't think I need a CFD program to figure out where the killer drag is coming from!

again welcome and enjoy in good health
As we say at the track - 'shiny side UP'

(PM me if you want the wing, I mean REALLY CHEAP )
Skil saw / grinder mod?

No wide body mode here - don't need to drag someones laundry down the street!

Ok - tonight after work. I have to set the Miles to Km's on the speedo (Slap my head mode!! : maybe thats why the guy got caught speeding 50km over the limit here in Ontario?!) Or does the speedo default to 'Miles' after the power is killed?? Dunno? Would be funny though if the guy was warping past people at '100' thinking, 'why is everyone so slow today?'

Have to figure out the radio - too much base going on for my Floyd CD's.

The E handle has some wear on the leather. Whats the opinion here - recover, or upmarket the handle to some other material or re-dye them?

The lift up front hood/engine bay release handles have some wear on them. Are they easy to take off? I have a notion to repaint or recover them in some way. Or are the two parts cheap, (Porsche Oxymoron!) and I should just replace them?

Congrats on the new 996! I love the way silver paint looks with a red interior. Not too many cars can pull that off... but a Porsche most certainly can.

Default Cassette Storage

Hey,

Let me know when you do that mod. My new-to-me 2000 Cab has the cassette storage unit too. I want to replace it with the storage cubby.

Thanks,
Barry

Barry,

Why are y waiting to install the upper cubby? To remove the cassette storage, open all the "drawers" grab them and pull out with a quick snap. Slide in the cubby. The whole process takes 8.42 seconds.

theres a new sponsor on the board... he does re-covering steering wheels... maybe he can handle e brakes... seems a bit easier to do.

I think I am going to take up stitching. It seems like there is demand for specialized work...
