Default I've got the "key stuck in the ignition" problem - but I have a question.

Well, it happened late this afternoon. Key is stuck in the ignition. All the classic signs, according to my searches - A/C doesn't work with car turned over.

I saw all the threads on how to fix it - I just don't know when I might find the 4-5 hours to do it.

My question - does any one know if this is covered under the CPO warranty?
*Mind you the CPO warranty I have is the one prior to 8/08 - car was purchased 3/08. For purchases after 8/08 they changed it to cover a lot more items?

I'm sure I'll find out when I call the dealer tomorrow, but at least I'll know what I'm up against

Thanks!

Bought my cpo car 3-08. Ignition switch replaced under porsche cpo 7-08. Cost would have been $550 per dealer.

That's just what I was looking to hear. I wasn't looking forward to paying $550 or doing 4-5 hours of work.

Thanks for the info.

And if it's not covered, DIY doesn't take 4-5 hrs.
It took me about 35mins, just to change the switch alone. I've heard others doing it in 15mins.

just change the switch under the dash.... $30, takes 15min tops. I replaced mine at the track since I knew it was gonna die on me one day. All you need is a small electronics screw driver... 1 screw.

Thanks - I guess the 4 hours was for the full ignition switch and lock replacement.
