Default 18" PS2 available now

Just checked discount tire and the "real" PS2 (not the PS Ribs) is now available for 18" wheels. $$$ though

Just had new PS2s mounted on my new (to me) wheels. Hard to compare, new (slightly heavier) wheels to the old wheels with worn PS Ribs. But I'd say that the ride feels more compliant, bumps are a bit less jarring, road feel is excellent - and I'll have to let you know about cornering abilities after I get a few hundred miles on them.

$1,500 shipped from Tire Rack - yep, really expensive - and if they only last me 5k miles in the rear, I might have to consider joining the Sumitomo segment - we'll see. I heard from a few trusted sources at the track this past weekend that Sumitomo's are a really decent tire.... so I'd be willing to try them...

Anyhow - can't say anything bad about the PS2s - look good, feel good so far.

The PS2s really do have a decent feel and they stick. Sadly, I never made it to the track with them, but at this point, I'd probably go with either R compounds or Hoosiers anyway. Street rubber on track is not as exciting to me anymore.

FWIW, I got about 12-14K miles out of mine. Now, I know people have gotten ridiculously low mileage out of theirs, but somehow, I do manage to get a lot of miles out of mine (religious tire pressure maintenence and not doing burnouts helps). In LA, the roads aren't that smooth either.

I just replaced my 4 corners with Ribs recently. Really interested in how PS2 compare to the Ribs.

That's a heck of a lot of money for maybe a few extra hundredths of a G. Getting close to the limits on the street is unsafe and stupid, so I guess it would be useful at the track.. but then again, dedicated track tires would be much better.

About to order a new set from tire rack. Really hoping i can get my rears to last 6-9k miles combined street/track. I have yet to find a tire that compares in terms of grip. The Azenis RT615s I like but they are LOUD, heavy and wear really fast. Plus they do not come in 235/295 widths. I've been doing track events for 2 full years, working on my 3rd and submit the 996 is a plenty handful on street tires.

Out of curiosity, what size 18s are you guys running on the rear of the 996? Are those 265s?
