It's not like it used to be, but there was a time when women used to judge others "are they real or natural?" They didn't like to know that we don't care... In the famous words of philosopher/comedian Ron White... "Once you seen one woman nekkid... you pretty much want to see them all..."

I'm not sure if Jon got the same size I purchased, but my RG5's are:

F 8.5 x 18 ET45 (19.2lbs), R 11.0 x 18 ET65 (19.9lbs)

Oh, no complaints from me - I think we were just trying to understand.

Man, I hope I don't spoil the BEST THREAD EVER by digressing. To all involved, I've enjoyed your humor and love of beauty.

Jon 996 and Ray S: I'm purchasably-impressed with the Champion RG5's. I think they look great. But I want to know this: why 18" instead of 19"? I know very little about wheels, but I know guys who race say 18's are lighter overall? Is that right? And what is the difference in ride quality on crappy roads like all roads seem to be these days? I ordered my yet-to-be-delivered C2 with 19" Classics, but can easily see investing in some RG5's.

First, you should know that I am a rookie so weight my opinions accordingly

I noticed you are from CA, so you should go 19" I think everyone from CA went 19"!

Regarding the decision for 18" vs 19", I liked the look of Ray's setup when I saw it.

Ride quality was a factor, but I did not have a chance to compare the two, of course.

This is my daily driver up here in MN, and we have REALLY bad roads, so concern over damage was a factor for me. 997s run on 19s, but have 0.5 to 1" greater rolling radius too. In other words, almost the same rubber between the rim and the road as the 18"s on a 996.

If I was going to guess, I think almost 80% of those buying aftermarket rims for 996s went 19"

Other factors that were not quite as important were less expensive tires and a wider range of tires available (for my setup).

They are available in 18" or 19" size so the choice is yours. I picked 18's because they are lighter (better for handling, braking, and acceleration), will ride better, and 18" tires are generally less expensive. The differences are not huge, but this car will eventually see the track so every little bit helps.

DPorcella - are you getting a base C2 (non-S) without PASM? If so you can drip down to 18" wheels without any problem. However if you added PASM to a base C2 or ordered a C2S, which comes with PASM, then I don't think you can drop down to 18" wheels. I don't know the specific reasons why, but with PASM, you must also get 19" wheels per Porsche.
