Default Shifter Cable different between 99 and later, so what to do??

Hello,

since I had a problem with my transmission on my 99 C2 I bought a used one from a 2002 C2. The shifter cable are different between 99 and later (where you have to put them onto the tranny the connection is a ball on the newer transmissions) but since I got shifter cables with the used tranny I thought I'm good to go. After having the tranny in (thanks ivangene for the help) I recognized that the shifter cable I got with the tranny are 2 inches too short, as it looks they are from a 997. Or did something change with the connectors in the shift console?? Any idea?? Before I go to the dealership and spend more than $ 300 on new cables I wnat to make sure that I dont miss anything. Has someone experience with having a newer tranny in a 99 C2?

Thanks,
Juergen

try and contact DC AUTO for a pre-owned set

here is their link, They shipped me some stuff quickly and VERY REASONABLE...
As for what cables I think as long as they are MKII car cables they should fit.. you can ask the guys there too and they might know

LINK to DC AUTO

As for the help... Well both Juergen and his wife make fantasic coffee!! (as well as a fun partner to work on the P-car with)

One idea I had this morning was pehaps the old linkage (shifting arms) can be assembled on the new transmission which might change the location where the cable meets, and your stock cable will fit then???

DC Auto had some listed - but not very friendly price

I will try it today, maybe I can get the old cables to work, new once are more than $ 300 so it's worth a try. It would be interesting whether the cables have the same lenght or Porsche changed somthing on the shifter console where the cabel connect to the shifter on newer models.
