Window regulator failed

Window regulator failed
On the way home today my passenger window regulator failed. May it R.I.P.
The tech at TPWS said there was a way to fix the regulator using a metal collar at the end points where the plastic fails so that it won't fail again. Costs about the same as replacing the regulator with a new part.

Are you a DIY sort of guy? If so there is a good DIY available (I think on Renntech.org) to walk you through the process. You could do an Advanced Search on "regulator" and probably find the link.

I did mine last summer, well, I actually watched someone that knew what they were doing... I got my regulator from Sunset Imports for around $170. A few comments, make sure that you know how to properly remove the mirror cover, or you can break the tabs, the membrane is a PITA, pay attention how the old regulator is in, it can be a bit tricky to figure out if you have never replaced one, and remember to remove the upper window stop limit (if installed) or the window will not go all the way down.

The only reason I may not do this myself is expediency. If they can get it done on Monday or Tuesday, I think I will do that. Otherwise it will be time to use another tool besides my credit card.
