WHO CARES?????
That reminds me of the time my wife was out to dinner with three other female teachers from school. A very well endowed lady walked into the restaurant and a couple of the teachers made comments like "Oh, THOSE aren't real!" and "Yeah, she bought those!"
My wife smiled and simply stated "Men don't care!" They all had a good laugh about the truth of her statement.

I just went through this process myself. My search basically came down to looking at two different models: '02-04 C4S and the 40th anniversary coupe. The price pressure of 996 Turbos and 997s are forcing the prices for these cars into the mid-30s for lower mileage cars. The guys at my indy think that the 996 represents the best buy in the P-car market right now and that the market will eventually recover. Now I'm not convinced about that last part, but I bought my car to drive and not as an investment.
Good luck with your search!

Yep, 997 prices are at the price I paid for my 996 back in the late summer of 2005. If I were you, I'd skip the 996 and just wait 2 years to pick up a 997 instead.
I'm a 993 guy so I've never posted here. So Hello everybody !
Lately I started seeing the prices for 99~04 996 cars really drop off. Just the other day I was on eBay watching a "no reserve" 2002 with 65K miles go for 23.7. To be honest I was holding back form bidding because I all ready own a 964 & a 993. But at 23.7 it was really tuff not pulling the trigger. I spent some time looking at the 996 buyers guide and I’m thinking I’d prefer one with the 3.6 motor. Ok, so is there a point to this post. Yes sorry I was rambling on, I’m not seeing such a big drop off for 993’s or for that matter 964’s but the 996’s are falling so far, I actually can’t really understand it. Ok, I’m not dump I know the economy is in the ****ter, but still 23.7 for a 02 blew me away. Just what the heck is happening? Sure hope Bama gets things straightened out. LOL

I've owned dozens of cars and almost 10 Porsches. I must say I really rather enjoy the 996. I even have an MK1 model, albeit with some suspension mods. Anyway, I like the 996 just fine, particularly a GT3 if that's your cup of tea. Whatever the reason for the resale being weak on the 996 at the moment, I don't see that as a reason to not buy one, quite the opposite.

Well, like we said in college:
2 **** a hole and heartbeat is all we needed after 2 AM.
Are you all still talking about 996 values? sheeze.
Maybe I should just start a catastrophic engine failure thread for more pics from Ivan?
BTW -zroadhouse .....saweet ride man.

Best thread that I've seen in a while. Keep it coming.
BTW, I'm driving an 02 C4S through the worst winter on record and absolutely love it. I've never felt more comfortable on snowy slippery roads and it will go through anything as long as the wheels are on the ground with enough weight for traction. i.e. don't try to drive over a three foot high snow bank. I don't care what 996's are worth as I'm keeping mine. Whatever it costs to keep it on the road will be a lot cheaper than getting a 997 which would be the next obvious step for a DD.

Once Z tells you why he went C4S, I'll tell you why I went 40th Anniversary!!! In my old 996, I rarely had P-cars return the headlight flash. In the 40th, I'm 3 for 3 so far. (356, 911SC, and a 993)
