Need a new remote head, where is the best place to get these?
My 2000 996 remote head just died. Its not the battery, circuit board had some surface mount chips break on it. So key still works. Does anyone know where the best place is to get a remote head with code? I would even buy an aftermarket if it worked..........the 996 is the worst key remote ever.

Is the code needed to make the immobilizer work or to make the alarm work? I can just move my keyblade and immobilizer pill over to the new key, thats no problem. But I need the alarm recoded to my car, so I am just wondering. Because I could buy a used keyhead with no code if its just to get the immobilizer keyed.

I dont think so. I think the pill and blade are just so you can start the car (immobilizer) I think if you buy a new remote you have to have it coded to your alarm, which requires the special porsche tool/computer to do..........someone correct if I am wrong, if all I gotta do is buy a new remote and swap my blade/pill over then that would save alot of $$$$

Guys,
I purchased the 911 design key from Suncoast in December. It DID NOT come with the electrical circuit board/switches but it DID come with the immoblizer pill. I had to replace the pill and install the electrical board/battery from the old key.
I think Signal is having a problem with the electronics in the original key and will need to source, at the very least, a new electronic board for the inside of his key. Signal, make sure you clarify what is included before you order something you do not want/need.

I paid $60 for 1/2 hr programming. Remember to bring all of your keys so they are programmed together. Otherwise, your other key will not work after the reprogram.
