WTB: 2000+ 996 For $17k
#31
Prices are low, but not that low. The price point you are seeking would certainly have well over 100K miles. I am very much on top of the market and have never seen a 2000 with less than 60K sell for under 20K. I do think you could get the car you want for $22.5K if you look hard.
Many nice 2000 Boxsters are available for $15-19K

Of course there are a couple differences between the 99 and 00 (no e-gas or optional PSM). I've owned both an early 99 (Sept 98 build) and an 01 and can say with absolute certainty the newer car was much better built. There are lots of great 99's out there of course but for those dollars you likely won't get one. I'd take a 99 with a reman engine before an 00 or even an 01 on it's original motor FWIW.
2000 and up 996's have drive by wire 99 does not it's cable actuated- if u left brake alot 99 is the one to get. Also 99 had no psm just tc(may have mechanical lsd). Had tons of fun with the car. Had one rms leak early on at 1200 miles and leak free til I traded it in with 47k miles. Mike

I must say I am completely dissapointed in you JW. You began predictably by trying to offer evidence to back up your claim an '00 could be had for $17k and I was expecting to sit back and watch the fireworks, yet you've had the gall to join in on the laughter with your last post, totally ruining it for me. Why couldn't you have just been blindly defensive in your position, adding fuel to the fire? I guess I'll have to wait for the next one. It's been a long slow winter.
By the way, if my car ever get's down in value below $20k and I need to sell, I won't. I'll part the whole darn thing out.

That's the reality for sellers but most end up just chasing down the market. I have a friend who works for CarMax and the price he gives on a 2000 996 (good condition) with about 50k miles is $14k - they list for $21k. If the seller is desperate to sell he can take CarMax's $14k or my $17k.

You and "carmax" are ballers and def. dictate the market, especially because carmax buys cars that are 9 years old, not. Dude, you get more with honey than with salt or whatever the heck it is your mamma taught you to serve up. YOUR NEW NAME IS "YAK", go buy an old m3 and write to us. Also, who's picture is on your avatar? Surely, that's not something you aquired....... he he.

It's a '97 C2S, we can't all afford the latest and the greatest - I'm guessing yours in a 1999.
