- Lights don't match year model
- Car was repainted cause it got keyed.... Yeah right!! I think something worse happened and that's why headlights were changed.
- He learned to drive manual.... clutch is toast
- Last oil change was done 3 years ago
- Tires are done
- Seats and TC don't work
Humm even though you would make it a track rat, a few bucks needs to be spent even before you bring it to the track. You're better off looking at cars with less problems in the low 20s.
Yeah, for what a person would be putting into it right off the hop I'd be looking for a better option. 7k miles and 3 years for an oil change alone is a deal breaker. Maybe if a guy could talk him down to 10-12k...
Just between tires and clutch you're almost at 20k total. More if the flywheel is gone too. I don't even have a clue what the TC fix would run you. I'm guessing it wouldn't be cheap though. But hey, at least the buttons are there, according to the listing.
Also, even if you learned to drive a stick on a 996 you should get more than 21k miles on it. I learned on the 924S and it didn't cut the clutch life in half. Those should last 40k worst case scenario if it's a DD and not a track car. I'd say this one has been ridden hard and put away wet.
might ask some tough to answer questions since he is the "original owner".... like what mods/upgrades have been done to the body/suspension/wheels/tires ect. DOnt give hints as to "I see it has had a facelift" just play dumb and see if he knows
If he says... oh nothing its all original, you know its a scam. On the other hand if he has all the deatils of that face lift, he might just be needing to sell and doesnt think any one will want it (lord knows I would have a hell of a time asking that for mine.... and I LOVE IT!!)
MAybe he neglected it, but it might still be worth looking in to
