Just recieved my new Panorama,does anyone pay the prices they in ask in the classified section? The seem very high ?

Maybe these folks don't go on the forums and are unaware of what's going on in the marketplace?

I don't receive Panorama, but what is the typical lead/lag time for the publication? That could be some of the issue.

I've bought 2 cars through Pano classifieds. Both times, I thought I got a fair (even good) deal. Prices may not be bottom-of-the-barrel but usually one gets a better sense that the seller is a responsible PCA member who has meticulously documented and maintained their car.

In fact, looking at the 996s, prices seem to range from the mid $20s to $40s... what people here *hope* their cars are worth! Seriously though, we all know that listing price frequently doesn't correspond with selling price. At least that's been my experience.

Tim, the lead time and delivery time are really out of whack. The month on the front of the issue is usually delivered between the middle and the end of the month that is on the issue......January's issue is just now hitting the homes of PCA members.

The other problem is that since it's free there is no repercussion to writing an ad that is not in line with the market.

Your ad needs to be in before the 1st of the month before the issue in question. To make the January issue that comes out at the end of Jan, you need to have you ad into them NLT the 1st of December! However, it runs for just the month and if you want it to continue you have to re-submit monthly.

I think most monthly magazines need a similiar lead time to place an ad. Just the nature of the beast when dealing with print. If they didn't make you submit monthly, you'd have a fairly large classified section of cars for sale that have already been sold. I know this from experience of being a region newsletter editor.

As far as prices, my brother found his 997 on a craigslist ad, but after some research, the same car was advertised in Panorama for about $10K more than he paid.

That's what I thought. In this economy, prices can and have changed a LOT in 45 to 60 days.

They do tend to be a tad high in Pano. I see the same thing in our local PCA monthly rag.

I've noticed this too. They still don't let you post pics either. They need to adopt a system like the Roundel.

996s in the U.S. are undervalued. For overpriced Porsches see all the 993s for sale on this board. Some of these guys in the RL classified section are truly delusional. They want more for a 993 than a mint condition 2004 Turbo. Uh, no.
