Wow, interesting and current news.
I had thought it was clear that Porsche had been accumulating VW stock all along, but I guess 75% was a shocker.
It also seems like the "borrowing" of limitless amounts of shares to support short-selling would be regulated; well, maybe that's coming.
Imagine once being the 94th richest guy in the world, and then throwing yourself under a train.

One thing about this story doesn't make sense (although it is an interesting story). Until recently it wasn't possible for companies to own that much VW stock, so the claim of Porsche owning 75% of VW stock sounds incorrect - remember the Lower Saxony ownership clause that stopped companies/individuals owning over 30% of VW?
Porsche owning 75% of VW would have been huge news and I've never heard of it. It is only recently that Porsche has moved up to 50% of VW ownership.

Reasons I've never liked or understood why people buy into hedge funds. I've always considered the markets enough of a gamble, I'm certainly not going to start 'betting' on stocks.

Didn't that apply to only non-German companies? Or am I confused?
