Default Michelin rib pilot sport N1 vs. Michelin PS2 non N

Any one had both and can compare how they liked them (grip, wear etc)?

The PS2 is a N-spec tire unless you are intentionally selecting a non-Porsche application.

sorry, should have included size: 265 35 18 rear, 225 40 18 front. Michelin makes the sport rib OE N1, but the PS2 is non-N in the rear size

Chago FYI: Yesterday I had to replace my car's rear tires with new ones. Went with the Sport Ribs to match the fronts. I was told that the Sport Ribs are in the process of being phased out and in a few months from now Michelin will make available N-rated PS2's in the 265/35 - 18 size.

The rears lasted about 20.5K miles, and the fronts have about 40% life left in them. The guys at the shop (Wheel Enhancement in LA) told me that the PS2 will have much better grip than the Sport Ribs with a higher durability as well.

When the fronts go in my car I'll most likely get a full set of PS2's then.

Michelin does not give you much information on the differences in its performance tires. If you look at its website, you will not find the Sport Rib anymore, but the regular Pilot Sport appears, which I think had not before. I just bought two Pilot Sports because Michelin no longer makes the PS2 in my size. The tread pattern on them is the PS2 tread pattern, not the one shown on the website. Very confusing.

Sorry I am not offering any real answer. Just sharing your frustration, I guess.

I have used PS2 on my 996 and they are a PHENOMENAL tire... they are also the non-N version.... best tire I have ever used... stiffer sidewalls for sure... but I do about 10-12 track days per year and boy do they stick.... I don't think you can get a better street tire with that kind of stick and ride quality... my 2 cents.

I'd get the rears in 285/30 18 (in N spec if your wheels are wide enough). The PS2 is a better tire than the sport rib IMHO and 285/30 is the size that Porsche spec'd on the Mk II 996's.
