So what did you get your 996 for Christmas?

Personally I finally bought a set of painted bumperettes

Let's see... I did get 1:18 scale model 997 RC car... Arctic Silver just like my 996 cab in the garage...

But the big present was the concession from the wife to get the pair of side rocker panels that go with the new bumper cover I'm getting (back in October or so, someone hit my car in the work parking lot hard enough to put a tear in the front bumper cover...) I'm getting the turbo bumper cover in addition to the side rockers and having all three pieces shot at the same time... hopefully by this time next month I'll have pictures of the face lift to show...

Happy holidays to you and everyone!

Tim,

Me too! Is what I'm doing called a "turbo conversion" (or does a "real" turbo conversion include engine mods?). I was going to solicit opinions on what I had in mind... not that it would change my mind, but to get an idea of what "conventional wisdom" thought... either way, I like the way a "stronger chin" looks and have lusted after the turbo bumper since I got her... and you simply must have the side skirts (or so my whining went...) Not sure about the turbo rear bumper cover (yes, your *** does look big in that...) and the wing... maybe something small and stylish, like the aero kit wings... but not sure about that either.

Happy holidays!

I guess that would be the "turbo look conversion." You may want to consider adding the turbo or C4S rear bumper cover. Of course that will have to be down the road a bit so you can practice your whining a little more. Did you see Joaquin's post of the turbo bumper his friend did? You might want to flag that for future reference.

You can't use the taco wing on your car because it would interfere with the operation of the soft top. You will need to do something low to allow the top to operate unabated.

Some work in oils, other in water colors... I seemed to have discovered something of a new talent... aside from the rockers, that's what "expedited" the acquisition... but, like anything else, practice, practice, practice...

Yes I did see Joaquin's post on the bumper... beautiful... and maybe beyond me, I'll see what can be had without modification...

Good to know about the taco wing... I just checked - none of this was on page 1 or 2 of Tim's modification bible... did I skip ahead?
