Just Finished IRS Audit - primary focus? $10K repair bill in 2006
As the headline states, I just completed an IRS audit of my personal tax returns for the year 2006. Happily, they are recommending NO change, NO penalties, and NOTHING DUE. Whoo-hoo.
While no one is able to say "for sure" what triggered the audit, both of the agents I dealt with said it was likely the $10,000+ repair bill to my 996 in the year 1996 for a new motor. Luckily I am a guy who keeps everything and was able to produce all of the receipts (with the exception of 1 or 2 I had to have faxed to me).
Anyone else (who uses their car for business) had to write off a new motor or other LARGE maintenance expense? If so, don't be surprised if you get a call from your friends at the IRS for a "review."
Happy Holidays to all!
